Something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately as Facebook is ever more often in the news for breaching the public’s privacy - and even before as Facebook continued to go down the rabbit hole of simply a social ”advertising” site, is ok - so where do we go to stay connected to other creative people and events that are happening around us?
Say what you want about social media, but for me at least, I still find a ton of useful information about events happening arounud me in whatever city I am in...at least in the Western part of the world (American and Western Europe) on social media sites, and more specifically, on Facebook. For that reason, I am reluctant to disconnect completely, despite the fact that every moral and ethical anarchistic ounce of me riots violently against logging in every time that I do.
So I put this out to the forum: where do you go? How can we stay vigiliant and connected without giving up all of our privacy and our right to visit sites without all our information being sold to third-party advertising?
